What Is a Google Transfer Token? K12 Montana Explains It for School Admins

This one is a bit more technical, but it comes up when a school district is transitioning their Google Workspace management to a new vendor - like K12 Montana. The Transfer Token is how you tell Google: "I authorize this vendor to manage my account."

Here's a plain-language walkthrough.

Why a Transfer Token Is Needed

Google Workspace accounts that are managed by a reseller (like K12 Montana) need to be formally associated with that reseller in Google's system. The Transfer Token is the mechanism for making that association. Without it, the vendor can't manage billing, provisioning, or certain admin functions on your behalf.

What You'll Need

You'll need your Google Workspace administrator login, and you'll need the Reseller's Public Identifier - a unique code that your vendor (K12 Montana) will provide to you. If you don't have it, just ask us.

Step by Step

Using an incognito browser window (to make sure you're signed in with an admin account and not a personal account), go to admin.google.com/TransferToken.

Sign in with your administrator credentials. Check the box to agree to the terms. Under Enter Reseller's Public Identifier, paste in the code K12 Montana gave you. Click Confirm Reseller Identifier.

Verify that the domain name and business name match K12 Montana. Click Generate Transfer Token. Click Copy Code and send that code to us to complete the transfer.

That's It

The process takes just a few minutes on your end. Once we receive the token, we handle the rest on our side.
